This advice has come from a high end cabinet maker.
To space a double basin correctly the gap between the side of the bench and the gap between the two bowls needs to be the same.
We can’t just divide the bench top in 3 or 4 it just doesn’t work.
To find the correct gap follow this calculation:
-Add the width of both bowls together
eg. 300 + 300 = 600mm
-Subtract this from the benchtop width
eg. 1200 - 600 = 600mm
-Divide this by the number of gaps
eg. 600/3 = 200mm
-This is the gap between the edge of the bench and the side of the bowl and also between the bowls.
This will be our standard set out unless specified otherwise by the builder or customer.
